Qatar Customs department seized 8 kg of hashish, 5600 drug pills and 66kg marijuana from passengers at the Hamad International Airport (HIA) and inside parcels coming from African and European countries.
During inspections, the Hamad International Airport Customs Department officers found 53 kg marijuana, 8 kg hashish and 5600 drug pills in the bags of passengers at the HIA. All the contraband items were wrapped in carbon paper by the smugglers, as it is believed by many that by doing this the packets will not appear on the X-ray inspection equipment. The 8 kg hashish was found hidden inside secret pockets of two different bags.
